The 99% Movement: It's Personal

Written by

These views are strictly those of Naya Aerodiode, and do not reflect the political stance of any other member of my coven, outer court, greater community or witches as a whole.  I strongly believe that a seperation of religion and politics is essential for both religion AND politics to maintain their integrity and focus.  However, my spiritual practice colors my views on everything I do, including the political movements I do and do not support.

I have not had much time for blog updates.  I have been busy channeling as much of my energy at the 99% movement, locally in my hometown, where I can use the most of my ability to the best of its capacity (organizing, designing the web site, sharing information, informing and educating).  My involvement in this is highly personal.  I have a personal vendetta against the economic effects of greed and market instability that was affected by the reckless and greedy actions of banks and corporations.  Many, many Americans - and people from everywhere on this planet - can tell you the same.  It's personal. I do this for me, and I do this out of love for every human being on the planet, and out of love for the planet and all of its creatures.

When the campaign finance laws were reformed to give corporations the ability to fund any candidate without limit, we saw a devestating shift in our country.  The alien invaders were given reign to feed freely.  Does it shock you at all that they fed and fed and fed and will continue to feed until they have drained their host - the human race - dry?

Our money will continue to be taken at gunpoint and handed to banks who give their executives absurd bonuses, handed to corporations who pay not a dime in taxes.  While our roads fall apart, our schools are in shambles and one in five Americans live in poverty, the lower and middle class will continue to be robbed to pay the rich until we have nothing left. Corporations have bought their own pet politicians in BOTH major parties to ensure that.

The corporate run media lies get humans to work against their own best interests.  The boogeyman of "socialism" keeps being dragged out to scare humans.  If you hate socialism so much, you'd better stay off the roads, stay out of the parks, keep your kids out of schools and never call 911 again.  For those who outspokenly hate socialism, perhaps they should be speaking up against the way the banks have taken taxpayer money.  That makes them your most hated enemy: the socialist who leeches off the system.  It's not welfare mothers and public school teachers who are the ones sponging the largest part of taxpayer money.  When was the last time welfare families took $800 billion dollars out of your pocket, then bought themselves a new yacht and a few politicians with it?

Most people are being misdirected, like a stage magician doing legerdemain, to pay attention to the right hand while the left hand is picking your pocket.  Media and corporations are experts at this.  They employ some of the most powerful magicians on the planet, and their task is entirely evil.  While you're up in arms over prayer in school and flag burning, they are dividing and conquering.  They are driving wedges between people so that we hate each other too much to work together against the real problem: the elephant in the room that is robbing everyone.

It must stop.  If we continue to allow this, we will all be reduced to a life of slavery - endless work and toil for very little more than the most basic essentials of life (if that.) Education will be cut to nothing; it's better if slaves are not literate.  Health care will be pared down to the barest essentials; you are very replaceable. And when you're used up, you're tossed out. We are looking at a world that is feudalism and dark ages all over again.

Every one of us can stand up to the corporations, and if we all hit them in small ways, eventually they'll be hit in a large way.

  • Buy from local, small businesses - I think that one is very important.  When you keep the money in your community, everyone prospers.  You have money to buy from me, and I have money to buy from you.
  • Recycle and repair things.  Join up with your local Makers group and learn how to solder.
  • Thrift shops help people in your community, Wal Mart helps people on Wall Street.  Giving what you don't need keeps stuff out of landfills, buying what you do need from thrift shops keeps factories in China from having to produce more things.
  • Support community arts over mass media.  Visit community theatre groups instead of the Cine-Mega-Plex.
  • And don't buy it if you don't need it. Advertising will convince you that you need every shiny thing that comes along. Do you? Your money is a part of your power and it shouldn't be squandered on trash.

And I have been doing all of the above, and many other things along those lines for years.  The Occupy movement is bigger than this, though. A voice is starting to form, a voice that speaks for everyone who has been screwed by policies that favor and continue to favor the super rich, at the expense of everyone else.

For these reasons, I support this movement from the bottom of my heart, and will pour my power into it.  We are ALL the 99%.

If you are interested in being a part of this movement, visit the Occupy Memphis web site.

Thank you for all your work on 99%. We're doing it all over, and the revolution needs pagans.

Remember, the Civil Rights Movement started out small. And look what happened. We speak of a color blind society. In there perverse ana abominable way, Wall Streeters are color blind, as, in their parlance, anyone of any cilor is ok, as long as they are part of the 1%. OMG. Horrible. The feudal system revisited.

thesilverspiral: Congregational #pagan s, the "sheep," are nothing I want to do with. I don't want to shepherd the sheep. I want to fly with other eagles.

thesilverspiral: http://t.co/5LKSu4Nc Disturbed by the comment about pagans being sheep, needing a shepherd. Is this what we've come to? Christianity pt 2?

thesilverspiral: In this coming election, we'll be hearing "flip flop" a lot. There is nothing wrong with evolving one's views as one gets new information.

The goal of the Craft is to affect changes that are in harmony with one's individual path through the universe. The goal of the Craft is not to be just a witch or priestess, but to be busy being awesome, living life with vitality and using your magic to shine like the star you are. The Craft is a set of tools which help open those doors on the path to your dreams. You are not your Craft; you are what you do with it. - Naya Ærodiode
